Information Management Strategic Planning

The Department of Health provides policy advice, analysis and other services on health related issues, including population health; access to the pharmaceutical medical and dental services; acute care; primary health care; private health; health infrastructure  regulation, safety and quality; health workforce capacity; biosecurity and emergency response; mental health; and sport and recreation.

Recordkeeping Innovation reviewed and updated Health’s information management policies, including how documents are created, stored, secured and shared, and devised an implementation strategy for embedding the revised policies into normal operating procedures across the Department.  The project involved:

  • extensive consultation at all levels of the Department,
  • devising a new vision and strategy for information and records,
  • gap analysis and
  • devising new information strategies based on industry best practice standards, that were compatible with Government wide ‘digital transition’ strategies.
