Developing a disposal/retention authority (2 days)
This two day course guides participants through the analysis required to devise appropriate disposal and retention instructions for records. It addresses the external legislative environment and community expectations beyond the strict letter of the law. It provides practical exercises in developing triggers for disposal which can be implemented insoftware supporting records work. Based on industry best practice using functional analysis, this course equips participants with skills to develop detailed disposal guidance. This course features practical exercises, undertaken both individually and in groups.
Course Sessions
This course is comprised of the following sessions:
- Scope the requirements of the legislative and regulatory framework relevant
- Identify disposal triggers that can be implemented in software
- Identify functions, activities and transactions
- Devise a framework for negotiation and approval of a disposal/retention authority
- Understand requirements to maintain a disposal/retention authority
Learner Profile
This course is aimed at more senior records practitioners or those with broad information and organisational experience. Good analysis and writing skills are presumed and a broad understanding of functional analysis is required.
