Developing a Records Taxonomy
This two day course focuses on taxonomies for records classification. It identifies various methods for developing taxonomies, including workflow analysis. Focussing on industry best practice in defining classification for records by function, activities and transactions, it provides hands on exercises for analysing and defining these layers of classification. It provides detailed instruction on developing, maintaining and implementing thesaurus for records. It features practical exercises, undertaken both individually and in groups.
This course covers the fundamental principles and practices of records management. It provides participants with a basic understanding of the activities involved in managing paper and electronic records.

By the end of this course participants should be able to:
- Articulate the relationship of taxonomies, classification schemes and thesaurus for recordkeeping
- Identify various methods of classifying records
- Identify functions, activities and transactions
- Compile a recordkeeping thesaurus
- Maintain and implement a recordkeeping thesaurus
